Whether conventional e-cigarettes, refillable puffs, or disposable puff cigarettes, the tobacco industry has developed many new alternatives to traditional cigarettes in recent years. Less harmful to your health, e-cigarettes also offer a unique and personalised vaping experience thanks to a variety of e-liquid flavours. But do you know what these e-liquids are made of?
Learn all about the ingredients of e-liquid for puff cigarettes with X-Bar!
Contained in a reservoir (also known as an atomiser or a clearomiser) e-liquid is what makes vaping possible. Once warmed up by the heating element, the liquid is transformed into vapour! E-liquids are sold in shops as bottles or pods for electronic cigarettes.
The PG/VG base is a mixture of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine which makes up 80 to 90% of the e-liquid.
Propylene glycol (PG) is used to bind the flavouring, providing a consistent taste in the mouth. It also provides a powerful throat hit, in other words, a pleasant vaping sensation.
Good to know: the more propylene glycol an e-liquid contains, the stronger the flavour and hit. However, your electronic cigarette will produce less vapour.
Vegetable Glycerine (VG) is a substance produced by saponifying vegetable oil, which gives the e-liquid its thick, viscous appearance. This substance helps to maintain the level of hydration needed to produce vapour and keeps your e-cigarette functioning properly.
Good to know: the higher the concentration of vegetable glycerine in your e-liquid, the more vapour your electronic cigarette will produce. However, this substance can impact the flavour and hit.
The flavourings account for between 3 and 15% of the e-liquid’s total make-up. They add a flavour to your electronic cigarette and can be natural or artificial. You’ll find classic flavours like tobacco and mint or more original ones with tangy, sweet, or fruity tastes.
When you smoke an electronic cigarette or a refillable or disposable puff e-cigarette, you can choose between e-liquids containing some nicotine or none at all. In France and Europe, regulations stipulate a nicotine content of between 0 mg/ml and 20 mg/ml. Unlike a traditional cigarette, you can control your nicotine intake and gradually reduce it to quit tobacco at your own pace.
Good to know: the more nicotine an e-liquid contains, the greater the sensation of the hit.
Depending on the e-liquid, some manufacturers add demineralised water and ethyl alcohol to the mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, flavourings, and nicotine. These fluids liquefy the mixture, which enhances the hit.
X-Bar offers a variety of flavours for e-liquids in a 10 ml format, such as:
We offer two types of puff e-cigarettes: single-use and refillable, so that every vaper can find the best solution for them.
If you choose a single-use puff e-cigarette, you simply need to replace it with a new one once the e-liquid has run out. You never have to refill the reservoir with e-liquid to enjoy a new vape. It’s an easy and practical solution, especially if you’re new to vaping!

To make puff e-cigarettes more sustainable and eco-friendly, we’ve created a range of puffs that you can refill with e-liquid. If you opt for a refillable solution, you can refill it with an e-liquid bottle or insert a new pod: a pre-filled e-liquid cartridge that allows you to refill your puff in one single step.
Our refillable puff e-cigarettes are available in several models, including:
However, it’s important to note that if your puff blinks, this may indicate a need to recharge the battery or replace the pod. Additionally, to keep your puff in good condition, it’s essential to regularly clean your puff e-cigarette, especially the mouthpiece and parts that come into contact with the e-liquid.
You can find the ingredients of your e-liquid on the bottle’s label or on the manufacturer’s website.
Good to know: e-liquid is made from a base of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine, along with flavourings, nicotine, and sometimes ethyl alcohol and demineralised water.
If you want to make your own e-liquid, you’ll need to let it steep in a dark, cool place for:
